The best AI meeting note takers, compared with sources

Ten note takers side by side: which languages they really handle, how they capture a meeting, what they cost and what your AI agent can do with them. Every fact links to the vendor’s own page. We make MinutesMaster, so it is listed first; the rest are in no particular order.

5 free credits (2.5 hours of audio) · No credit card · No AI training on your data

The short answer

There is no single best AI note taker; the right one depends on the language of your meetings, where they happen and how you want to pay. For English calls with a generous free plan, look at Fathom, tl;dv and Fireflies. If you don’t want a bot in the call, Granola records on your own computer. For a dedicated recorder in the room, Plaud. For subtitles, rare languages or human proofreading, Happy Scribe.

MinutesMaster is our product. It is built for teams whose meetings are in Czech, Slovak, Polish, Hungarian, German or any of 38 languages — including meetings that mix them — and for recordings that come from everywhere: a bot on Zoom, Teams or Google Meet, an upload, a YouTube or Google Drive link, or the phone on the table. It charges per recording, with packs that never expire, and its MCP server lets Claude or ChatGPT search, translate and send the bot.

Prices are as listed on each vendor’s site on 28 October 2026 and change often; the sources are under the list.

Each tool in a few lines

Who it suits, and what to check before you choose.

  1. 1.MinutesMasterOur product

Best for: Multilingual teams, Central and Eastern Europe, recordings from many sources

Built for meetings that aren’t only in English and recordings that don’t only come from calls. Every input — bot, upload, link or phone — ends in the same speaker-labelled transcript and structured minutes with decisions and action items, from 13 templates, translatable into 38 languages. You pay per half hour of audio, not per seat. What to check: the 5 free credits are given once, not every month.

  2. 2.Fireflies.ai

Best for: English-speaking teams that want a free plan, many integrations and API access

A widely used notetaker with a free plan, API access from the free tier and a large catalogue of integrations. Its pricing page lists 100+ languages, while its FAQ says English is the primary language and the rest are in beta — test a non-English meeting before you commit.[1][2]

  3. 3.Otter.ai

Best for: English-language teams that want a monthly free allowance and live transcription

One of the best-known notetakers, with live transcription, AI chat across meetings and Salesforce and HubSpot sync on paid plans. Its pricing page lists AI transcription in six languages, so it fits English and a few major languages, not Czech, Polish or Hungarian meetings.[3]

  4. 4.Fathom

Best for: Live calls and sales teams that want unlimited free recording

A free-forever plan with unlimited recordings and transcriptions, plus CRM sync, a deal view and coaching on its team plans. Its help centre lists 38 transcript languages, Czech and Polish included, and says uploaded calls are not supported — so it covers live calls, not recordings you already have.[4][5][6]

  5. 5.tl;dv

Best for: Sales and customer teams that record many calls and want EU hosting

Unlimited free recordings and transcription, AI notes, CRM integrations and sales playbooks, hosted and stored in the EU. Paid plans are per seat and the MCP server needs Pro; uploads are in beta and show speakers as Speaker 1, Speaker 2.[7][8][9][10][11]

  6. 6.Read AI

Best for: Teams that want search across meetings, email and chat, plus meeting coaching

Meeting reports with summaries, coaching metrics and Ask Read, which searches meetings, email and messages together. Its MCP server can send the Read assistant to a call. The languages it lists are major Western European and Asian ones — check yours first.[12][13]

  7. 7.Granola

Best for: People who attend meetings at their own computer and don’t want a bot

An AI notepad: you type notes during the call and Granola completes them from the transcript, without a bot joining. That needs the app running where the meeting happens — there is no bot for calls you miss, and file uploads are not stated in its docs.[14][15][16]

  8. 8.Notta

Best for: Transcription in many languages, live bilingual translation, a low annual price

Strong on languages and translation, with bilingual transcription and many ways to capture. The free plan caps each conversation at 3 minutes and lists transcript export as a Pro feature, so a real test needs a paid plan. Its MCP runs locally rather than as a remote server.[17][18][19]

  9. 9.Plaud

Best for: In-person meetings and phone calls recorded on a dedicated device

AI voice recorders that clip onto a phone or clothes, with an app membership for transcription and summaries. It lists 112+ languages but transcribes one language per recording, and you buy the device on top of the plan.[20][21][22]

  10. 10.Happy Scribe

Best for: Transcripts and subtitles in many languages, with optional human proofreading

A transcription and subtitling platform with a meeting notetaker: 150+ languages, 15+ export formats on Pro and human proofreading from $2 a minute. Strong for media, research and subtitles; plans come with minute allowances, and extra minutes cost $0.20.[23][24]

How we compared

We read each vendor’s pricing page, help centre and MCP documentation on 28 October 2026 and wrote down only what those pages say. Where a page is silent, we say “not stated” rather than guess. We didn’t run accuracy benchmarks, so the table doesn’t rank transcription quality.

The criteria are the questions people ask before choosing: which languages a tool handles (Central and Eastern European ones included), whether it needs a bot, a desktop app or a device, what the free plan really includes, how paid plans are priced, and whether an assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT can work with your meetings over MCP.

We make MinutesMaster, so read our entry with that in mind. Each competitor entry links to a side-by-side page where we also list where that tool is stronger than ours.

Features

What MinutesMaster does differently

The facts behind our own entry.

  • 38 languages, Central Europe included

Transcripts, minutes and translations in 38 languages, from Czech, Slovak and Polish to Hungarian, Romanian and Ukrainian. Meetings that switch languages need no setting.

  • Five ways in, one result

A bot for Zoom, Google Meet and Teams, uploads up to 2 GB, browser and phone recording, YouTube links and Google Drive files all produce the same speaker-named transcript and minutes.

  • An MCP server with 31 tools

Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, Cursor and other MCP apps can search, ask with citations, translate, export, send a bot and import recordings — on every plan, with OAuth or an API key.

  • Pay as you go

1 credit covers 30 minutes. Packs of 10, 30 or 100 credits (€9, €24, €69) never expire; Pro and Business carry unused credits over. 5 credits are free to start.

  • Minutes in your format

13 built-in templates — from 1:1s and stand-ups to board meetings and Czech municipal councils — or your own; export to PDF, DOCX, TXT, JSON, SRT or VTT.

  • European, no AI training

Run by a Czech company and hosted in Europe under the GDPR. Your meetings are never used to train AI models.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the best AI meeting note taker?
It depends on your meetings. For English calls and a free plan, Fathom, tl;dv and Fireflies are strong; without a bot, Granola; with a dedicated recorder, Plaud. For meetings in Czech, Polish, Hungarian or other European languages, recordings from many sources and pay-as-you-go pricing, MinutesMaster — our product — is built for that.
Which AI note taker supports the most languages?
Of the tools listed here, Happy Scribe lists 150+ transcription languages and Plaud 112+, followed by Fireflies (100+, most in beta per its FAQ) and Notta (58). Fathom and MinutesMaster list 38 each, Granola 31 on desktop, tl;dv 30+, Read AI 16+ and Otter 6.
How many languages do Otter.ai and Fireflies.ai support?
Otter’s pricing page lists AI transcription in English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese and Chinese. Fireflies lists transcription in 100+ languages, but its FAQ calls English the primary language, with Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian and 100+ others in beta (both read on 28 October 2026).
Which AI note takers work without a bot?
Granola has no meeting bot and transcribes on your computer or phone. Fathom (in beta on Mac), tl;dv, Notta, Fireflies (through its Chrome extension) and Plaud Desktop also offer bot-free recording. MinutesMaster records without a bot in the browser and in its iPhone and Android apps, and has a bot for calls you can’t join.
Which AI note takers connect to Claude and ChatGPT?
All ten tools here have an MCP server, but they allow different things: most only read meetings; Read AI’s and MinutesMaster’s can also send a bot to a call, Notta’s and Happy Scribe’s can transcribe new files, and MinutesMaster’s 31 tools also translate and create export links. Some need a paid plan — tl;dv’s needs Pro.
Is there a free AI meeting note taker?
Most have a free plan: Fathom and tl;dv list unlimited recordings, Otter 300 minutes a month (30 per conversation), Notta 120 minutes (3 per conversation), Plaud 300 minutes and Read AI 5 meetings a month. MinutesMaster gives 5 credits — 2.5 hours — once, without a credit card.
Which AI note taker is best for meetings in Czech, Polish or other Central European languages?
Check the language list first: Otter, Read AI and Granola don’t list Czech, and Otter and Read AI don’t list Polish. Fathom, tl;dv, Notta and MinutesMaster transcribe Czech, Slovak, Polish, Hungarian, Romanian and Ukrainian; MinutesMaster also writes the minutes in the same language and handles meetings that mix them.
Can I use an AI note taker for in-person meetings?
Yes. Plaud sells dedicated recorders, and Otter, Fireflies, Read AI, Granola, tl;dv, Notta, Happy Scribe and MinutesMaster have mobile apps. MinutesMaster’s iPhone and Android apps keep recording with the screen locked and protect the recording if a phone call interrupts.
