From recording to a transcript you can work with

Typing up an interview by hand takes far longer than the interview itself. MinutesMaster does it automatically: speakers separated by voice, a timestamp on every turn, and the text grouped into whole answers rather than fragments. Rename the speakers once — Interviewer and Respondent, or codes like R1 and R2 to keep participants anonymous — and the labels are used in every export.

Next to the transcript, the Customer / user interview template writes a profile of the interviewee, the key insights, notable quotes with their times, pain points, requests, and the main questions with condensed answers. For press and media interviews, the Podcast / interview template gives you chapters, takeaways and quotes instead.

The transcript comes from speech recognition, not a human transcriber: it is a clean read of what was said, so check the passages you quote and add anything your method needs, such as pauses. Export it as Word (DOCX) or plain text, formats that qualitative analysis tools such as MAXQDA, ATLAS.ti and NVivo import. A one-hour interview uses 2 credits.

Study interview R07 — remote work and caregiving

Interviewer (18:05) — You said remote work changed things at home. What would you lose if you went back to the office full time?

R07 (18:22) — Honestly? I don’t need to be at home all day. I need to be home by four, when school finishes.

Key insight

A fixed finishing time matters more to R07 than working from home.

Notable quote

“I don’t need to be at home all day. I need to be home by four.” (18:22)

How it works

From interview recording to transcript

In-person, phone or video interviews — with one participant or a focus group.

  1. 1

    Record or upload

Record with the MinutesMaster mobile app or in the browser, send the bot to a Zoom, Teams or Google Meet interview, or upload a recording (MP3, M4A, WAV, MP4 and more, up to 2 GB).

  2. 2

    Pick a template

Choose Customer / user interview for research, Podcast / interview for press and media, or General meeting for a hiring conversation.

  3. 3

    Name the speakers

Speakers are separated by voice. Rename them once — with real names, roles or anonymous codes.

  4. 4

    Quote, analyze, export

Search the transcript, copy quotes with their timestamps, and export to Word, PDF, plain text or JSON.

Features

Made for working with interviews

A transcript you can cite, code and share — and a first pass at the findings.

  • Answers as whole turns

Recognizer fragments are joined into complete speaker turns, so each answer reads as one passage with its timestamp.

  • Interviewer and respondent apart

Voices are separated automatically, also in group interviews and focus groups. Use names, roles or codes like R1.

  • Insights and quotes

Interviewee profile, key insights, notable quotes with their times, pain points and requests — a first pass you check against the transcript.

  • 38 languages

Interview in Czech, Polish, German, Ukrainian or 34 other languages, including respondents who switch languages. Translate the transcript for a co-author.

  • Word and text for analysis

DOCX and plain text for coding in qualitative analysis software, PDF for an appendix, JSON with timestamps for your own scripts.

  • Ask across all interviews

Ask MinutesMaster which respondents mentioned a topic and get an answer that cites the moments it used.

Use cases

Who transcribes interviews

Anyone who needs to quote people accurately.

  • Students writing a thesis

Transcribe the interviews for a bachelor’s or master’s thesis and spend the time on analysis instead of typing.

  • Qualitative and UX researchers

Get transcripts, insights and quotes from user interviews and usability sessions, and compare themes across a whole study.

  • Journalists

Find the exact quote and its timestamp, check the wording against the audio, and keep every interview searchable.

  • Recruiters and hiring managers

Keep a transcript of a structured interview so the panel compares what candidates actually said. Tell candidates you’re recording.

  • Oral history and documentaries

Long life-story interviews become timestamped transcripts you can index, translate and archive.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I transcribe an interview automatically?
Create a free MinutesMaster account, upload the interview recording or record it in the app, and choose a template. You get a transcript with speakers separated by voice and timestamps, plus insights and quotes, ready to export.
Is the interview transcription free?
You can start free: new accounts get 5 credits once, which cover 2.5 hours — for example five 30-minute interviews — without a credit card. Credit packs start at 10 credits for €9, about €1.80 per hour of audio.
Does the transcript show who is speaking?
Yes. Speakers are separated by voice and every turn has a timestamp. Rename them once — with names, roles or codes like R1 — and the labels are used in the transcript and all exports.
Is it a verbatim transcript?
It is an automatic transcript of what was said, grouped into readable turns, not a strict verbatim transcription with pauses and every filler word. Check the passages you quote against the audio and add any notation your method requires.
Can I import the transcript into MAXQDA, ATLAS.ti or NVivo?
Export the transcript as Word (DOCX) or plain text, formats these tools import as documents. JSON with timestamps is available for your own scripts.
Can I transcribe a phone or video interview?
Yes. Upload the call recording, or send the MinutesMaster bot to a Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Google Meet interview. Ask the interviewee for consent before you record.
Can I keep participants anonymous?
Rename speakers with codes such as R1 or Interviewer and the codes replace the voice labels everywhere. Names said aloud during the interview stay in the text, so remove them from the exported document before you share it.
Are interview recordings used to train AI?
No. MinutesMaster never uses recordings or transcripts to train AI models. They stay private to your account unless you share them, and you can delete them at any time. MinutesMaster is a Czech company hosted in Europe.
