MinutesMaster vs Plaud · checked 28 October 2026

A Plaud alternative without a device to buy

Plaud sells AI voice recorders from $159 plus an app membership. MinutesMaster records in-person meetings on the phone you already have, sends a bot to online calls and takes uploads — with minutes in 38 languages, even when a meeting mixes them. A fair comparison, with sources.

The short answer

Plaud and MinutesMaster both turn recordings into transcripts and AI summaries, capture online meetings and connect to Claude and ChatGPT over MCP. Plaud is built around dedicated recorders — Plaud Note, NotePin and Note Pro — with an app, a web app and a bot-free desktop recorder. MinutesMaster is software only: the iPhone and Android apps, the browser, a meeting bot and uploads.

Plaud lists 112+ transcription languages but transcribes one language per recording; its help centre says mixed-language recordings are not supported yet. MinutesMaster covers 38 languages, handles meetings that switch between them, and writes structured minutes with decisions and owners. If you want a clip-on recorder, Plaud is the specialist; if the phone in your pocket is enough, MinutesMaster saves you the device.

Where each one is stronger

A fair comparison names the other side’s strengths too. Here is where Plaud has the edge.

Where Plaud is stronger

  • Dedicated recorders that clip onto clothes or a phone, for in-person meetings and phone calls without opening an app.
  • 112+ transcription languages and a free Starter plan with 300 minutes a month.
  • 10,000+ summary templates and an Unlimited plan for very heavy use.
  • A long compliance list on its pricing page: ISO 27001, ISO 27701, SOC 2 Type II, GDPR, HIPAA and EN 18031.

Where MinutesMaster is stronger

  • No device to buy or charge: the iPhone or Android app records in-person meetings, keeps going with the screen locked and protects the recording if a call interrupts.
  • A meeting bot for Zoom, Google Meet and Teams that records without your computer, plus uploads, YouTube links and Google Drive files.
  • Meetings that switch between languages — Czech and English, Polish and German — transcribed as they are, then translated into any of 38 languages.
  • A remote MCP server with 31 tools that can send a bot, import, translate and export, with OAuth or an API key.

Which one should you choose?

Choose Plaud if you want a dedicated recorder for in-person meetings and phone calls, record many hours a month, or need one of its 112+ languages.

Choose MinutesMaster if your phone is recorder enough, if online calls should be recorded by a bot, if your meetings mix languages, or if you’d rather not buy hardware on top of a membership. The 5 free credits cover 2.5 hours.

Features

What you get with MinutesMaster

The parts of MinutesMaster that matter most when you compare it with Plaud.

  • 38 languages, mixed meetings included

Transcripts, minutes and translations in 38 languages. A meeting that switches between Czech and English, or Polish and German, needs no language setting.

  • Your phone is the recorder

The iPhone and Android apps record in-person meetings, keep going with the screen locked and protect the recording if a call comes in. Online calls get the bot.

  • AI agents that can act

Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, Cursor and other MCP apps can search, ask, translate, export, send a bot and import recordings — within the permissions you grant.

  • Pay for hours, not seats

1 credit covers 30 minutes of audio. Buy a pack that never expires, or pick Pro or Business for regular use; unused plan credits carry over.

  • Six export formats

PDF and Word minutes, plain text, JSON, and SRT or VTT subtitles — on every plan, translations included.

  • Czech company, no AI training

MinutesMaster is run by a Czech company, hosted in Europe under the GDPR, and does not use your meetings to train AI models. Delete a meeting or your account at any time.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is MinutesMaster a good Plaud alternative?
It is if you don’t want to buy a recorder: the MinutesMaster phone app records in-person meetings, the bot records Zoom, Google Meet and Teams calls, and uploads cover everything else. If you want a clip-on device for calls and in-person meetings, Plaud specialises in that.
Do I need a Plaud device for online meetings?
No: Plaud Desktop (beta) records Zoom, Google Meet and Teams audio on your computer without a bot, and Plaud’s plans include audio import. MinutesMaster needs no hardware for online or in-person meetings.
Does Plaud handle meetings in two languages?
Not yet: Plaud’s help centre, read on 28 October 2026, says it transcribes one language per recording and mixed-language segments may be less accurate. MinutesMaster transcribes meetings that switch between its 38 languages without a language setting.
How much does Plaud cost compared with MinutesMaster?
Plaud lists recorders from $159 to $189 and memberships of $8.33 a month (Pro, 1,200 minutes) or $20 a month (Unlimited) billed annually, with a free Starter plan of 300 minutes a month. MinutesMaster needs no device; Pro is €19 a month for 20 hours and packs start at €9 for 5 hours.
How many languages does Plaud support?
Plaud lists 112+ transcription languages, one per recording. MinutesMaster supports 38, including Czech, Slovak, Polish, Hungarian, Romanian and Ukrainian, and meetings that mix them.
Can I connect Plaud or MinutesMaster to Claude?
Both. Plaud MCP is in preview and lets Claude, ChatGPT and other clients list recordings and read notes and transcripts. MinutesMaster’s remote MCP server has 31 tools, including sending a meeting bot, importing recordings, translating and creating exports.
Can I upload my Plaud recordings to MinutesMaster?
Yes. If you have the audio file, upload it to MinutesMaster (up to 2 GB) and you get a speaker-labelled transcript and structured minutes in the meeting’s language.
Is my meeting data used to train AI?
MinutesMaster does not use recordings, transcripts or minutes to train AI models, and you can delete any meeting or your whole account at any time. For Plaud’s data practices, see its own privacy documentation.
