How MinutesMaster transcribes Google Meet
For a live call, MinutesMaster sends a bot called MinutesMaster AI (you can rename it) to the Meet link. It asks to join like any guest, and once someone in the meeting admits it, it records the audio and leaves when the call ends. There’s no browser extension to install and no Google account to connect.
For a call that’s already over, use the recording. Google Meet saves recordings to the organiser’s Google Drive, and MinutesMaster can import a Drive file by its link — no downloading and re-uploading. A file from your computer works just as well.
Both routes end in the same place: a transcript with speakers separated by voice (with participant names when the bot recorded the call), minutes with decisions and action items with owners, and exports to Word, PDF, text or subtitles — in the language of the call or any of 38 others. One credit covers 30 minutes, and new accounts start with 5 free credits.
Priya Shah (05:22) — Both finalists passed the system design round. The difference is mostly in how they’d handle on-call.
Lukas Meier (06:01) — Then let’s do a short on-call scenario with each of them next week before we decide.
Add a 30-minute on-call scenario for both finalists before the final decision.

The same minutes, translated into German and Czech, export as Word or PDF.
From Meet link to minutes in four steps
Nothing to install and no Google account to connect.
- 1
Copy the Meet link
Take the meet.google.com link from the calendar invitation or the call itself. Pasting the whole invitation is fine — MinutesMaster keeps just the meeting link.
- 2
Send the bot
Paste the link into MinutesMaster, optionally rename the bot and choose the minutes language, and send it. Audio-only recording is recommended.
- 3
Admit it to the call
Google Meet asks someone in the call to admit guests. Admit MinutesMaster AI when the request appears — MinutesMaster shows the bot’s live status and reminds you while it waits, for up to 15 minutes.
- 4
Read the transcript and minutes
The bot leaves when the call ends and processing starts on its own. Review the transcript and minutes, export them, or share the meeting with your team.
What you get from every Google Meet call
Notes you can send, search and translate, whichever way the call was captured.
A bot or a Drive link
Send the bot to a live call, or paste the Google Drive link of a Meet recording. Both produce the same transcript and minutes.
Who said what
Speakers are separated by voice; bot recordings also get participant names from the call. Rename a speaker once and it changes everywhere.
Decisions and action items
Minutes with a summary, the agenda, decisions and action items with owners, plus detailed narrative minutes for the record.
38 languages
Calls in Czech, German, Polish, Spanish and 34 more languages, mixed-language calls included. Translate the minutes or the full transcript later.
Word, PDF and subtitles
Export minutes as DOCX or PDF, the transcript as text or JSON, and SRT or VTT subtitles with timestamps.
Ask across your calls
Ask MinutesMaster what was agreed in last month’s calls; the answer cites the moments it used, and each one plays the recording from there.
Good to know about Google Meet
How the bot fits into Meet calls, and what to tell the people in them.
Someone has to admit the bot
Meet asks a participant to admit guests. If nobody admits MinutesMaster AI within 15 minutes, it stops waiting and you can send it again.
No Google account access
MinutesMaster doesn’t connect to your Google account, calendar or contacts for the bot. The meeting link is all it uses.
Drive links need sharing access
To import a recording from Google Drive, use a shareable link to the file so MinutesMaster can fetch it.
Be open about recording
The bot is visible in the call under its name. Tell participants the call is being recorded and transcribed.
Other ways to capture Google Meet calls
If the call was recorded in Meet, the recording is in the organiser’s Google Drive. Copy a shareable link to the file and paste it into MinutesMaster — it imports the video directly. You can also download the file and upload it (up to 2 GB).
For a meeting where some people sit in the same room, or where a bot isn’t welcome, record in the browser or with the MinutesMaster app for iPhone and Android, and let MinutesMaster transcribe that recording.
Using an AI assistant? Connect it to MinutesMaster over MCP and, with your permission to spend credits, Claude or ChatGPT can send the bot to a Meet link or import a Drive recording for you.
Frequently asked questions
- How do I transcribe a Google Meet call?
- Paste the Meet link into MinutesMaster and send the bot, then admit it when it asks to join. When the call ends, MinutesMaster creates a transcript with participant names and minutes with decisions and action items. For a call that was already recorded, paste the Google Drive link of the recording instead.
- Do I need to connect my Google account?
- No. The bot joins through the meeting link, so MinutesMaster doesn’t need access to your Google account or calendar. To import a recording from Drive, you only need a shareable link to the file.
- Why does the bot need to be admitted?
- Google Meet asks someone in the call to admit guests, and the MinutesMaster bot joins as a guest. MinutesMaster shows the bot’s status while it waits, for up to 15 minutes.
- Do I need Google Meet’s own transcription?
- No. Meet’s built-in features depend on your Workspace edition and admin settings, but the MinutesMaster bot records the audio itself. It is still a recording, so let participants know.
- Can I transcribe a Google Meet recording from Drive?
- Yes. Meet saves recordings to the organiser’s Google Drive. Paste a shareable link to the recording into MinutesMaster and it imports the file — no download needed.
- Which languages are supported?
- 38 languages, including English, Czech, Slovak, Polish, German, Spanish and French, and calls that switch between languages. Minutes can be written in the call’s language or another one, and translated later.
- How much does it cost?
- One credit covers 30 minutes of audio, so a one-hour call uses 2 credits. New accounts get 5 free credits without a credit card; after that, credit packs start at 10 credits for €9.
